College of North West London
Dudden Hill Lane
London
The College of North West London is a large further education college located in the North West London borough of Brent. Over 50% of the 13,000 students study at Willesden Centre (5 minutes walk from Dollis Hill tube) which houses as well as other courses all of the College’s construction and engineering. A brand new industry standard centre was opened in 2008 to provide the most up to date and best facilities in England. The Wembley Centre is directly in front of the new Wembley Stadium opposite Wembley Park tube station. Catering, Hair and Beauty, Business and I.T. are just some of the specialisms delivered there. An iconic new College building is planned for Wembley in 2011 right at the beginning of Olympic Way.
Our smallest but newest centre is Kilburn. 11% of provision is here, specifically the specialist English language provision. Opened in 2007, this building is highly praised by all students and staff and won an architectural award shortly after being opened.
The College’s mission ‘To lead in the provision of knowledge and skills for work in support of London’s economic success’ reflects our commitment to provide all students with the highest possible quality of provision. This will equip them to be able to demonstrate levels of attainment and employability skills to gain and sustain employment anywhere in the world or to move onto higher education either within the College or with other partner universities. The College of North West London is an Associate College of both Middlesex and Westminster Universities.
The College has an outstanding reputation as a deliverer of provision to meet employers’ needs. Whilst it holds Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) status in four areas, Construction, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning and Electrical Installations, Welding and Fabrication and Retail, it has also now been awarded the Training Quality Standard (TQS). This is an accolade still given to relatively few training providers so the College is proud to hold the whole college award Part A and two specialist awards for Part B – Construction and Building Services. We aim to have 3 more Part Bs within the next 12 months. Identified by Ofsted inspectors as being outstanding in responsiveness, the College has a wide range of courses in a variety of modes of delivery - full time, part time and short.

The College has embedded links with many key large organisations including Wembley Stadium, Tricycle Theatre, Brent Cross Shopping Centre, BBC, McVities and a number of leading West End hotels. In Construction and Engineering there are extensive partnerships with many leading large and small firms including Multiplex, Laing O’Rourke, Bovis Lend Lease, London Transport Authority and Murphy Construction.
Many large employers provide industry standard equipment to the College so that students have the opportunity to learn in the most up-to-date workshops and explore concepts and ideas not available elsewhere. International students have been successful for many years at the College of North West London and a specialist team of staff have delivered an enquiry and support service for students once in the College which is second to none.
Guided visits to key London venues and orientation to life in England are an intrinsic part of this support service and students continue to keep in touch for many years after they have left the College.
