Walsall College has a developing reputation for promoting education with entrepreneurship and enterprise through its innovative college academies. These have been developed on campus along with local and international companies such as Apple, Microsoft and Roland and ensure that the college offers a contemporary vocational curriculum directly linked to the needs of global industry and commerce.
Our Mission:
”Walsall College is uniquely and proudly vocational. Our greatest passion is unleashing the potential of individuals, communities and businesses; our greatest legacy is the talent of our learners: skilled, professional and enterprising.”
Walsall College was established in 1952 and is currently one of the largest colleges in the West Midlands, employing over 800 staff and with an annual turnover of £31 million. The only further education college in Walsall, the College‟s learner population comprises 4000 14 -19 year olds and 8000 adults (inc higher education and international learners). The College‟s key focus is on vocational education and training, working positively in partnership within our communities and particularly with employers. The College operates from two main campuses at Wisemore and Green Lane. September 2009 saw the opening of our brand new state-of-the-art £64 million Wisemore Campus, which provides an inspirational learning environment for our constituent communities. Our Green Lane campus has also recently been refurbished and houses our Environmental, Engineering and Building Technologies provision. The College has established a range of strategic partnerships with public and private organisations and the voluntary sector, enabling us to offer significant support to our key partners through industry-defined training, linked to the needs of the local and regional economy. We have a national reputation for our ‘vocational academies’, providing leading-edge vocational experiences through strong collaboration with major blue-chip organisations such as Apple, Microsoft, Francesco Group and Roland. We are the major successful provider of apprenticeships within the Borough and in niche areas beyond our localities. Walsall College is the largest recipient of direct HE funding amongst the further education colleges in The Black Country. The College also has a growing number of international learners following higher education programmes, as well as shorter English Language programmes and internships.
