University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL) is responsible for the world’s leading range of qualifications for learners and teachers of English for speakers of other languages. Each year they are taken by over 3 million people, in over 130 countries around the world. They include qualifications in general English, business and academic English, including legal and financial English, and English for young learners, as well as qualifications for language teachers.
Cambridge ESOL exams are characterised by an uncompromising commitment to assessment of the highest quality, recognition by universities, employers and official bodies throughout the world, and the determination and expertise to ensure that assessments have a positive impact on the classroom. They offer a high level of support for learners and teachers. Cambridge ESOL exams are linked to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), published by the Council of Europe.
Cambridge ESOL is part of the Cambridge Assessment Group – Europe’s largest assessment agency. It is a department of the University of Cambridge and a not-for-profit organisation. Cambridge ESOL is a founding member of the Association of Language Testers in Europe (ALTE).
