Loughborough College provides a wide range of vocational, professional and academic programmes at various levels and is committed to preparing learners for further study or entry to employment as well as providing an opportunity for continuous professional updating of skills and knowledge throughout their working lives.  The programmes offered include NVQs, GNVQs, BTECs, A/S, A2, AVCE, HNDs as well as Foundation and Honours Degrees.

The college has 2000 full-time students and 10 000 part-time students.  It has been providing education and training for international students for over 45 years and currently has between 300 and 400 every year.  These students come from all over the world,  including Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Oman and  The UAE.

The college is situated on a large educational campus that it shares with Loughborough University.  The Loughborough Students’ Union, one of the largest in Europe, is also shared by the two institutions, providing access to all the union’s facilities, including the world class sports facilities, for  students at Loughborough College.

Loughborough College is a Centre of Vocational Excellence in Sport, Exercise and Fitness and has developed specialisms in the related fields of Leisure Management and Hospitality and Catering.  In all of these curriculum areas, the college offers programmes at all levels, including foundation and full honours degrees in partnership with Loughborough University and Nottingham Trent University.  Sports Science students at the college include elite sportsmen/women in a variety of disciplines, who regularly win medals in national and international competitions.  Students of Hospitality and Catering also achieve success and win medals every year in national competitions for the preparation and serving of food.

The college has excellent links with both public and private sector employers on a local, regional and national basis and is widely recognised for its delivery of bespoke programmes of professional training, especially in Sport, Exercise and Fitness and Leadership and Management.  The college works closely with the English Football Association and the academies of various Premier League football clubs to ensure that young players achieve a vocational or academic qualification whilst training at this elite level.

The bespoke programmes for employers are delivered in various formats, including online and distance learning using the college’s virtual learning environment.  Interest in these programmes has recently been shown by employers based overseas and the college is currently engaged in developing in-country partnerships to ensure that students opting for this form of learning are fully supported in their learning.

The college has a dedicated team of international staff to ensure that students from overseas are supported from initial enquiry to completion of programme.  This team also works closely with colleagues from the curriculum teams to develop and implement international projects and partnerships.  Members of the Engineering team have been involved in the delivery of training programmes in Power Engineering in the Oman, The UAE and Malaysia.
