CIAT is internationally recognised as the qualifying body for Chartered Architectural Technologists (MCIAT) and professional Architectural Technicians (TCIAT).
Architectual Technology is the science and technical aspects of architecture primarily based upon the twin concepts of designing for performance and production through the use and integration of technology.
CIAT has formed various alliances with other organisations internationally such as KF in Denmark (http://www.kf.dk/english), AATO in Canada (http://aato.on.ca) and has joined the AEEBC which is a pan-European association which seeks to form a common platform for construction professionals in Europe (http://www.aeebc.org/uk). CIAT is also the UK's EU Competent Authority. This means CIAT controls the access to Architectural Technology in the UK, specifically becoming a Chartered Architectural Technologist in line with EU Directive 2005/36/EC.
