Successful launch for TVET UK

MPs Bill Rammell and Eric Joyce joined people from across the technical and vocational education and training sector to welcome the launch of TVET UK.

TVET UK celebrated its official launch on 6 February 2008 with a reception at One Great George Street in London SW1.

Bill Rammell MP, Minister of State for Lifelong Learning, Further and Higher Education, and Eric Joyce MP Falkirk, Chair All Party Parliamentary Group on Education, both welcomed the launch of TVET, and gave their support for this important initiative which will help the UK sector to work together to gain international business.

Other key speakers included Dominic Savage OBE, Director General of the British Educational Suppliers Association and Chair of the TVET UK Interim Strategy Council and Lynne Sedgmore CBE, Chief Executive of the Centre for Excellence in Leadership.

Guests at the launch came from across the technical and vocational education and training sector, and included a variety of representatives from TVET members, such as colleges from around the country, The Association of Colleges, City & Guilds, Lifelong Learning UK, the Learning Skills Network and Standards Verification UK.

Dominic Savage announced that he was particularly pleased to welcome a delegation from the Bulgarian educational sector to the event.
