TVET UK and members recently attended the QS Asia Pacific Professional Leaders in Education fair in Seoul,South Korea 9-11 July 2008
The event organisers had seen the potential for vocational education and training and had encouraged participation from Australia, Canada and the UK and gave those countris the opportuntiy to address the conference.
The exhibtion itself was secondry to the opporuntites provided by the networking sessions and possible collaborations although the members present expressed a geat deal of satisfaction with leads created by the exhibition.
As a result of discussions at the conference TVET UK is now exploring a number of avenues of cooperation for mutual benefit in vocational training and skills in Australia and the United Kingdom and for the benefit of economic, social and skills development worldwide.
It is anticipated that these initial discussions will lead on to opportunities for TVET UK members in terms of staff student exchange, curriculum development and joint certification.
In addition to the event TVET UK hosted a lunchtime reception on the final day for Korean colleges to allow members and guests to network and make valuable contacts that can be built on in the future.
Following the event Edinburgh’s Telford College, one of the TVET UK members present at the event is now in discussion about collaboration with an Australian college.
