UK college vocational courses and qualifications are developed in conjunction with industrial organisations and employers to ensure that graduates have the right knowledge and skills to meet the needs of the modern workplace.
Choice and value
The pricing structure of colleges means that courses can be up to 50% cheaper than those offered at university, and offer the student more choice for progression. For example, the vocational route offers an excellent alternative to a traditional three year degree in Engineering. After two years in a college, the engineering student will have an internationally recognised HND (Higher National Diploma) and gained hands-on, industrybased experience. They can now enter the workplace, or move into the final years of the degree course, having saved money and gained wider practical workplace skills.
Many colleges also work in partnership with UK universities to offer traditional academic programmes such as Foundation Degree courses, and a more cost effective way to access higher education qualifications.
